A created my Star with an eight-pointed star at their back. You can see that The Star is clearly represented by 17 (the roman numerals at the top of the card), but broken down into numerology-terms where we add the digits together (1+7=8) the star is also represented by the numeral 8. Eight represents the infinite (think 8 on it's side!) which felt pretty significant when thinking about this eternal spring of universal thought that the star is able to tap into here. The Lovers

The Lovers

I worked hard on this lovers design. I was very excited about creating two figures that feel separate, yet the same. That middle arm is shared and it could belong to either figure. The story in the image feels cyclical to me, looking at the outside world (blue figure, blue to also represent cups- my emotional friend) feels the love and joy from the outside world and brings it inward. For me, the bliss of the card is truly in the corresponding action (red figure, representing wands) of reflecting that inner joy outward again. And so it repeats and repeats,...

The Moon

Ahh the moonnn my friend. I made this card to visually reference the moon phases that are present on the backs of the cards. Present on top are a full moon- looking full and ripe, foreshadowing the sun in the next card, and the waning moon, reminding us to reflect on our lives- and that now is a time to explore within. On this bottom half, I created a stylized moon-reflection, to 1. reference back to the water element present in the Smith-Rider-Waite deck and 2. to play on the elusiveness of the moon.
